Welcome to AI for Psychs!
Who: Hi! I’m Mark. I am a clinical psychologist in private practice. I specialize in comprehensive neuropsych and academic assessments. I built this site with the help of AI tools like Squarespace AI, ChatGPT (OpenAI) and Claude (Anthropic). [This was written 100% by me.]
What: Help psychologists integrate AI into their practice effectively and safely in order to benefit themselves and their clients.
When: This site was initially developed in June 2024. AI tools are moving fast, so I will do my best to stay up to date!
Why: Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT and Claude are powerful tools that are already able to help mental health professionals in their work. There is both understandable excitement and trepidation about AI changing our society, but it feels (to me) inevitable that AI is going to change our society. I believe that integrating our strengths as clinicians with the strengths of AI tools will help both ourselves and our clients. These technologies can augment our work, not replace us. As I began to explore the clinical utility of these tools, I found limited resources that were geared specifically to our field, so I decided to try to build some resources and a community myself. My hope is that this site can become a helpful place for mental health professionals to learn about AI tools, explore how to use them in their practice, and connect with other providers who are interested in the intersection between AI and psychology.
How: We value confidentiality, empathy, ethical practice, practicality, transparency, and authenticity. Our commitment to these principles ensures that we provide reliable and trustworthy information to our community. [This was written 100% by ChatGPT based on my interactions with it over the past month. My prompt was: “Can you write an about page for the website? It should be succinct and include information about me and the purpose of the site, which is learning about AI, use cases for psychologists, and possibly a forum.”]
I’ll add - I am committed to lifelong learning and am very open to feedback!
